OK - by my own admittance, I don't know a thing about antiques or barber chairs, so I am asking for help on this. Thanks in advance.
This old barber chair was left behind by the seller of our house - 22 years ago, where it has resided since. I am looking for any info as to its rarity, what its worth in its present unrestored condition, whether this chair would be worth restoring, and if so any names or locations I could contact for this procedure. As I said, I KNOW NOTHING about restoring antiques in general, let alone something as specific as this chair. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
Here is what I know: Cast onto the upper base is: PAT. MAY 1901 It has a Eugene Berninghaus Co. oval manufacturer's plate It appears to be made out of hardwood and steel (and iron?)- NO PORCELAIN The chair maintains its full reclining position as shown - obviously something is broken The footrest mount bracket is broken The Hydraulic pump (?-long lever right side?) does nothing - but I can feel slight resistance at The end of the forward movement when operated It is missing the wooden adornment on the front left side HEAVY undecorated round base and pedestal
I have pics to help with the info., and will send them if you email me at: wrldesign@comcast.net I don't have a place to put them on the internet, that's why I can't get them displayed here. Sorry.
Lastly, if anyone is interested in purchasing the chair, please email me.
Thanks again, mollykodii
