I have the chair taken apart and I cannot figure this thing out. I've got a machinist who will make a new part, but nobody seems to know how the brake works. You can see the chair at the end of this video:

Hi someone most likely tried to move the chair without locking the brake first. Try pulling the cylinder that goes up and down completely out of the base (gets a little messy) then you can fish for the brake in the bottom of the tank, most likely it is down there. You should see the notch in the side of the cylinder where the brake slips in. Also there might be a spring you need to reattach. Hope this helps.
